Sea to Sound Day 3

Day Three: Jamestown to Port Townsend

Sunday, August 25th starts at the Carrie Blake Park at 11 AM. There will be a registration/pickup table at this location. If you’re just riding on this day, this is where you will pick up your bib and Sea to Sound gear. There is an 8-mile section on this day that travels along the very narrow Highway 20. We will be shuttling all participants through this dangerous segment. There will be aid stations and shuttle support at ~5-mile increments.

Riding the whole day? Read this…

If you plan to ride/run/roll the entire 24 miles we suggest you park at the Haines park-and-ride and catch our shuttle to the beginning of the route. This way your ride will be waiting for you at completion.  Easier for you and easier for us! Our last shuttle will leave the Haines park-and-ride at 9:45 AM, so be sure to arrive early.

Day three of 2023

Attention wheelchair users! Read this…

The 24 mile day is pretty doable for most chairs, but not all. If concerned about your battery, and would like to do only 15 miles, you could meet us at our second aid station at Diamond Point Road at 1:45 p.m. The most noteworthy part of the day is the final 7.3 miles into Port Townsend on the Larry Scott Trail. It is a dirt trail. However, it is very smooth and often feels paved. If you feel like a short day, I would prioritize this section. We should arrive at the Milo-Curry Trailhead a little after 3 PM. If doing the 19-mile option or the 15-mile option, we suggest parking at the finish line, Haines park-and-ride in Port Townsend, and catching the shuttle to the starting point before 9:45 AM. It makes it easier for you and easier for us! If you opt for just the 7.3 mile option, we recommend parking at the Milo-Curry Trailhead and we will shuttle you back when the ride is over.

Other things of note…

  • In past years, participants have had to ride for 1 mile along the 101 to get to Discovery Bay. We will no longer be doing this and all participants will be shuttled past this section.

  • We will offer lunch to those interested at the second aid station of the day, about 12 miles in. It likely will be after 1 PM. There will be a variety of sandwiches and other options.

  • Many of the wheelchairs will stay together as a group and travel around 5 mph. They are generally at the back of the pack. The aid stations will be closed down soon after they are passed by this group.

  • At each aid station there will be snacks, water, an EMT, ADA restroom, hand sanitizer, and shuttle support.

  • The event ends at 5 p.m.

Do you need extra support?

We want everyone to do as much of the trail as possible. Please let us know if there are any special needs that we can attend to. We also will have a few things available for wheelchair users that can help you along the way, I’ll list them below…

We have volunteers who will be on the course and ready to push if needed. This could be for a power wheelchair that’s run out of batteries, or manual chair user who would just like a little break.

Finally, if you have any other concerns don’t hesitate to reach out and ask. We are here to accommodate everyone and ensure you have a good time.
